Large Foundation Modernizes and Expands Communication with Content Strategy

Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Philanthropies (Schusterman) works to advance racial, gender, and economic equity in the U.S., as well as to foster a more joyful and diverse Jewish community through investments in leaders, organizations, and U.S. public policy. As Schusterman evolves and expands its work, it is essential that the Communications Team is empowered with best-in-class content strategy and digital content platforms.

SITUATION

An opportunity for a new approach

Schusterman’s recent expansion of its work into new areas such as criminal justice reform and gender and reproductive equity led the Communications Team to revisit and revise their content strategy and needs across multiple channels.

Schusterman approached Content Science when the organization was in the initial stages of reevaluating their content strategy, selecting and implementing a new website content management system (CMS), and undergoing a website redesign.

SOLUTION

Analysis, assessment, and development of a new content strategy

Our content strategy and operations consulting arm, CS Brain, reviewed documentation regarding Schusterman’s new areas of work and evolving mission and conducted working sessions with staff to develop a comprehensive content analysis and content strategy.

We leveraged the results of the content analysis activities to develop actionable user journeys for priority target audiences, and a comprehensive content strategy for the new Schusterman.org.

The strategy included Schusterman’s new content aspirations, top content opportunities, a new content vision statement, strategic recommendations around editorial and communication efforts, content process and operations, as well as website architecture and UX suggestions.

RESULTS

Schusterman gained a complete picture of the state of their content and what they would need to do to evolve and update their content for
the new Schusterman.org.

Schusterman used the research and analysis Content Science provided to develop a vision for their new website, including technical and content needs.

The Schusterman CommunicationsTeam now has an in-depth content strategy to serve as their roadmap going forward.
